Chak de India

This weekend i watched the shahrukh khan starrer chak de india. it was not a good movie if you assess the story line, the same old one hero, ispires some people to do the unprecedented and finally succeeds.
the only thing i liked about this movie was the story of indian people. how easily they make or break heroes and villians. shahrukh plays the role of indian hockey captain, who is the best central forward in hockey at the time. but three bad things happen coincedentially at the same time.
1) he misses a penalty
2) india loses the hockey cup final against pakistan and
3) out of sportsman spirit he shakes hands with the opposition team.

the media then potraits him as a traitor and all people starts swearing on him. the statements that the general public is shown making are nothing new. we always had those statements made against the cricketers, but the only difference is that cricketers get second, third and many more chances to prove their innocence, but other sports person gets none.

he goes missing for seven years, and returns back as indian women's hockey coach. general public is still not ready to accept him for that role based on the previous image. the zonal disputes among the indian team; whether it is cricket or hockey, is evident when the team registration and coaching starts.

the director has taken so many minute details from the real life into the movie, that even though you knnow the end of the movie is going to be india's victory, still you stay on the edge of the seat as to how the win is achieved. the goal scoring competition amongst the indian forward keeps you guessing till the end, until the team spirit triumphs.

my recommendation, is even though this post tells you almost all the details of the movie, still it is worth atleast watching once in cinema. well if you have a membership in cinema like me you can even watch it twice, without getting bored.
